Golden Eagle has identified the need to create a trauma informed practice resource tool kit for members of the legal profession (i.e.: judges, lawyers, police officers, advocates, victim support workers, investigators).
The Tool Kit is designed to educate legal professionals on how to avoid or minimize the re-traumatization of traumatized persons who engage with our legal systems for the purpose of seeking protection, recognition or redress within our legal systems; and to educate legal professionals on the symptoms of vicarious trauma and create a self assessment tool so as to minimize our own risk of vicarious trauma when working with traumatized persons or graphic and disturbing evidence. There is a desperate need for legal professionals and justice workers to understand and recognize trauma in their clients, witnesses and themselves to avoid burnout, build better and stronger relationships, improve communication styles, and to create a sense of credibility in a legal process many people fear and no longer trust.
